Rohit Sharma reveals plans to stay in 'peak' Physical Condition f

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has revealed his plans to remain in peak physical condition for upcoming cricket matches.

The right-handed batsman suffered a hamstring injury in 2020.

As a result, Sharma missed part of the 2020 IPL and the first portion of the Australia tour, including the white-ball leg.

Now, he has opened up about the “maintenance work” he plans to do to ensure he remains in shape for future matches.

Sharma’s revelation came in a video posted to the Mumbai Indians Twitter page.

The tweet came on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Sharma said:

“Maintaining what I have built up in the last three or four months. Obviously, I was injured during the last IPL.

“So there’s a lot of maintenance work that I have to keep doing just to maintain my lower body, hamstring and stuff like that.”

According to Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians have been working hard in fitness sessions after their loss in the IPL’s tournament opener.

He said that his team’s dedication is something he takes great pride in.

He said:

“We want to keep putting that effort whether we win the game, lose the game, it doesn’t matter. For us, what matters is the preparation.

“It is great to see some of the fast bowlers who played in yesterday’s game come out and do the fitness drills, which is always nice.

“That’s what MI always takes pride in. Putting that extra yard in, that’s why we get the results in our favour.”

Also speaking of his players, Rohit Sharma said that during training sessions they look to strategise.

The MI skipper said:

“We just wanted to catch up, no home advantage this year. We are playing in different venues.

“We need to strategise, what sort of game plan to have. We all know as individuals, what is expected.

“Through the course of our training session today we will have chat individually. We will see what one needs to get out of these practice sessions.

“We have set some standards in this tournament.

“I would like us to continue to do that. And how we lead up to those games will be very critical.”

Rohit Sharma also joked that he would like to play another 200 IPL games, doubling his current number which stands at 200.

Mumbai Indians lost the season opener to Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on Friday, April 9, 2021.

The defending champions will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
